Well, Here We Go.

My sweet husband told me that by now all my blog followers (YOU, if you're reading this) have given up. I haven't posted in almost 3 full months. If you are reading this, thank you. And if you've been following my somewhat-sporadic blog life here at 341Rays for any amount of time you'll remember that the last time I went "silent" for this long, I came back only to tell you that I was pregnant. So let me just clear the air...Sophie is not preparing to be a big sister. She is preparing to steal your heart, however. But more on that later.
Of course, we've been busy. And, of course, I've thought about blogging a good many times since Wednesday the 14th of July. There's a lot I could say right now, but a lot that I won't say. Here is what I have, Hello...I'm excited to start blogging again.

Our lives are full and there is much to share, so where to begin?? Once again, maybe more for my small archiving goals, I am going to post some old news. I literally took such a host of pictures planning out this wonderful post and then it just. never. happened. So here's a quick recap of our garden this year...I will be grateful for these memories.

Diversion:

If you didn't catch it...Michaela is IN the leaf bag strolling up the sidewalk...AND we filled 9 of those bags before we could begin the great job of preparing the soil...

The Barefooted Beauty in the Barren Land:

The Soil Has Been Turned (by yours truly with a trusty spade):

The Hem of the Dress has Been Ruined:

The Wee One has Awoken:

The Productivity Has Been Slowed...to a Near Standstill:

And...I need to upload the rest of the garden photos, but I can't.

So...wait for it...I'm actually going to jump to another (somewhat related) story that I have all the photos already set for. This is turning into quite a blogging debacle if I do say so myself, but I'm plowing ahead. Switching gears to fruit trees.

My parents planted a lovely row of 5 fruit trees along our driveway when we were kids. To make a long story short, fifteen years later, the sour cherry tree is the only one which delivers the goods. We get enough cherries for one good pie. Yes, one. This summer, my folks happened to be gone during the harvesting week so my eldest and I took on the task. It was all worth it.

The Pitting Party Outcome:

Thank You, Trader Joe's, for Your Wonderfully Versatile Piecrusts:

Yum:

This very pie was even more delicious than it looks, because it was a surprise for my parents upon their homecoming. Surprises are always more delicious.

OK. I feel off to a good (re)-start. More plants and harvests to come. Happy October.
