Easter weekend was, for us, a slow and wonderful celebration. There was no travel and I was fighting an icky cold so there was lots of just "being family" around the house. I truly hope to think more creatively and intentionally about building Easter traditions for our little household, but this year was pretty lowkey and that's OK! (I'm learning this OKness slowly...) Anyway, here are some shots from the weekend!
On Thursday evening, we read the Jesus Storybook Bible account of the Last Supper and then Andrew washed Michaela's feet. I'm not totally sure what she thought about it all, but Sophie was (if you look closely) clearly confused. :-)
On Saturday as soon as Sophie went down for her nap, Michaela and I jumped into our Easter egg coloring extravaganza. Just for the record, I love dying eggs. Sooo after M plunked all one dozen in record time, I went back and "enhanced" her color creations. It was a simple joy, a perfect activity for a sickie Momma.
Here is one artist at work
Can you see the dedication here?!
I'm often amazed that this blonde, fair child is my own...
M still can't smile on command. This wrinkly nose expression is what she does when we say, "Smile!"
Some of my favorite enhancements.
Resurrection morning dawned warm and bright. A great delight to my body and soul. We loved singing "Christ the LORD is Risen Today" and with all its Alleluias, M could even join in. Grateful. We returned home and did a quick photo shoot. Out of all the new Easter garb, Sophie's little lined trench coat had to be my favorite.
Amazing how much she's grown since last year!
Me and my girls...this year and...
Last year! Wow.
Now, feel free to skip the next few...they are more for my own posterity than anything. Basically, my husband is becoming a camera guru and he has some cool thinga-ma-jig that he can set and it will take pictures every couple seconds for as long as you need. Sooo we set up our own family photo booth. It was goofy and fun and I think we only had to delete 54 useless pictures.
Why not?!
How bout catching a little air?
Here are some cute girlies parading their finery...skeptically...
"Mom, here's a bluebell for yooouuu!"
Tulips help this little lady so much. We need to plant more.
He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!
Bayleigh, thanks for helping our celebration...
May day! Happy May!
