I have a curried-butternut-apple cider soup simmering on the stove and yet I'm posting about the 4th of July. Strange, I know. And yet, as I've realized a number or times in the history of my own blogging career, it's just plain OK to go back and remember.
Jumping for joy! I think we got this dress in March and it was immediately named the 4th of July dress, for obvious reasons.
What fun that the actual day finally arrived!
I decided to put a topknot bow in Sophie's hair...
It was the first time I'd pulled such a stunt and she was mildly amused.
In the morning we decorated our stroller
And walked down the hill to some local festivities. A children's bike parade and games and such. Really, we felt like we had to do something in the morning because our parade didn't start until 4pm
This next series of photos is one of the many reasons why I'm grateful for a photographer-husband. We three were just jaunting down the hill..
When Sophie...
Jaunted into a little hole...wait for it...
And went down. Flat.
No worries, folks. I've been told that babies bounce!
Michaela also showed off some great running form...pretty sure Eric Liddell would be impressed.
A little refreshment
And ketchup with a side of hotdog rounded out our morning :-)
.....no comment...
Then we saddled the troops us after naps and headed to our local parade.
Michaela, again, was an incredibly diligent flag-waver
Incredibly. Diligent.
And Sophie loved waving at everything with the hand that wasn't grasping her soggy-sticked lollipop. Yum.
Happy 4th! We hope you had one too...4 months ago :-)
