Smile! We're almost done with our incredibly overdue Summer recap...that is certainly something to grin about. Also worth grinning about? Being in Vermont with baby-cousin-toes! We got to be in Vermont in early August this year. It was glorious. Pete, Keri and the new babe were there with us for a few days and great-grandma was there the whole time along with Nani and Grandpa. Even though Daddy had to edit video the whole week, we still managed some fabulous SkyFarm days. As I've mentioned, having my own children fall in love with land that has been a part of our family since before I was born is a phenomenal thing. And each time we go the love increases. Here are a few shots to capture our time...
GreatGrandma hit a home run with a new big-wheels wagon for the property...Sophie loved running downhill pulling the wagon until, well, until it ran away with her. Classic.
Yaaah!
Michaela taking on a more sophisticated approach to entertainment: ballet in the front room!
This ones for you, Bean...The cabin-front garden looks beautiful...miss you.
And then Great-Aunt Jo arrived with her new puppy. Sophie=welcoming committee. We had such fun with my mom's sister and her little Atticus. Our day was complete with a picnic at the pond and even a puppy swim and a puppy bath! So grateful to catch up with my Auntie and have her meet Sophie.
I like puppies...and I'm just as cute as one. Oh melt.
The walk to...
The pond. Oh, the pond.
The puppy bath. With Grandma's big laugh in the background!
Another highlight of our week was using the new outdoor fireplace/grill to make S'mores with visiting friends.
Rear-view munch...
Front-view marshmallow moustache
Someone had an opinion on the "no more S'mores" statement. MmHmm.
A walk through the meadow proved
To be quite an Adventure
My Grandma calls that mountain on the horizon hers. I think we'll keep it there :-)
We LOVErmont. As our childhood bumper sticker used to read :-)
The first week of September was quite a momentous first in our family. We went on a vacation...just the four of us! When you've lived and do live far from family, it so happens that most of the vacation days of the year are spent traveling and visiting with the far-flung family. We love traveling to see these dear ones and we were more than excited to find a (very) affordable little rental property on the Jersey Shore that suited us just fine for this FIRST.
Meet Barnegat Lighthouse and the view from our rooftop deck.
New fisheye lens captures the scene pretty well :-)
Fisheye Inside...isn't it cute!?
Fisheye Bayside...we like our new lens :-)
We had one absolutely perfect beach day. Hello.
And I just couldn't pick. Beach pictures of my little girls with their little thighs and blowing hair and sandy smiles and PURE FUN written all over and through their body language...well, here they are.
And then I was able to get one of Daddy ripping through the curl...good thing I caught it! Ahem.
Goodnight Barnegat Light. Goodnight Summer.
Until next year!
...When I will NOT wait to write about summer until our Christmas tree is up.
Fun festivities upcoming. And Sophie can sing Jingle Bells.
