Soccer...sort of

We have the extreme convenience and privilege of a community soccer league that meets in "our" front yard...literally! There are two age groups that play against eachother for a six week season in the Fall and Spring, so Michaela just finished her second season. It was great. fun. The thing about my M is that her social motivation greatly outweighs any passion for the sport itself...but she is the tallest 5 year old around, so the coaches play her so much for intimidation (??) or maybe because she can run so fast (no question about that). I personally think she adds a great aesthetic to the field as you will soon see.

TEAM GREEN!!! (and pink)

I was seriously proud that she took her fleece off...this lady does not like to be cold!

Her most common forms of movement on the field include: hopping, skipping, jumping, with some running here and there when the rest of the crowd moves with the ball.

Often (not always) a keen eye out for her fellow man.

SKIIIP!

Never a dull moment.

And this was probably one of her most aggressive moments all season! Do you see the elbows out! Ready to jab the opponent! and the ball is (potentially by accident) directly under her feet!

The surrounding players watch in awe as she takes a kick!

And this is just a classic position...ready to set sail, but not necessarily toward the action. If you notice the intensity of the other players on the field...you can almost feel their dedication to pushing the ball ahead...the two white team players charging in from the sideline and my M? Well...maybe she turns, but maybe she sees something more captivating upfield...:-)

It was a fabulous season! So grateful to be involved with our neighborhood this way!
