Gotta Do It, By Golly

The Garden Finale. I've mentioned it, alluded to it, and promised it and here it is...I know Thanksgiving is next week, but to complete what I began, I just had to post a few last photos of our garden. The following collection is from what I would call an "early blossoming." Everything had taken root and grown a bit, but we hadn't had a harvest of anything except delicious herbs.

Here's the plot. The same plot in the photo entitled, "The Site" in blogpost "Well, Here We Go." Amazing, eh?

This was a first-time experiment of mixing decorative plants in and amongst the veg. This box did beautifully!

Plentiful herbs in the raised bed. Basil galore, parsley, thyme, chives, cilantro...I think that was it.

Six beautiful stands of tomatoes.

Two yellow squash, Two zucchini.

A view from the opposite end. The row of marigolds along the front ended up performing fabulously and added a welcoming line of BRIGHT deep yellows and orange...even after their inauspicious beginning (pictured here) :-)

In closing...I love dirt. This project was a great highlight of my summer, particularly in this season of little ones.   By the end of it all, Sophie could even help with "deadheading" various spent blossoms. Fun had by all.
