Catching Up: June 2010

So, my goal is to get us all caught up before December 31st...so that we can start in on the New Year with a more "current events" vision. It's hard for me to be posting mid-summer pics while listening to Rudolph and drinking egg-nog, but here we are. June. June was a great month. Most of our garden project happened in June, Andrew started his new full-time position in June, my parents were out of town for much of June so we had our run of the house...a fun treat. Nothing extremely profound or exciting happened (as you will see from the following photo hodge podge), but we continued to grow and learn and love eachother.

One aspect of Michaela's growing up that I've wanted to share for awhile, is her development in thoughtful, inclusive, and deliberate care for real people and for the characters that come to life in her imaginary play. Here are a few shots that were just too good to pass up!
Sharing a snack of Cheez-Itz.

What precision!

I think bear had eaten most of his portion already.

Here's another story with the same theme...sweet creative care! All these animals have been gently laid down and tucked in. And as you'll see in the final photo they were all napping simultaneously around the room!
Three peas in a pod.

Duck may need to see the chiropractor after a night on this pillow.

I thought using the book as a blanket for Thomas and Percy was pretty innovative...

And this puppy got pillow and blanket books.

All quiet! So sweet!

Here are just a few more shots to complete the hodge podge...

Now that Sophie is sitting up she can enjoy "reading" time with her big sis.

The only traveling we did this month was to accompany Andrew on a business trip to Virginia Beach. He shot a lot of video while we hung out with a beachfront hotel room and remembered why we never stay in hotels. As lovely as it was, the eating and sleeping operations were seriously challenging all in one room. The cuteness factor of my children does really help in these situations. :-)
Big hotel beds are a blast!

This photo captures one of our more challenging weekends of the entire summer. Andrew threw his back out...baaad, and we all hung out in our one AC'd room...on the matress...on the floor. The girls thought it was great.

Shortly after our VA Beach trip we made the decision (finally) to give up Michaela's pacifier (Nuk). I had continued to put it off and off in fear that naptime would be lost and gone forever...graciously that was not the case. M really didn't have a problem with the situation...evidently...
And we popped this little baggie in the mailbox at the post office! Sadly, I don't even remember which needy baby we "sent" it to!!

We had a happy visit from my sister and her husband late in June before they flew to Croatia. I really wish I had more photos, but here are a couple exemplifying the all-star status that Hannah holds with her niece.

I miss you, Bean.

Last, but not least...I just had to write a little about my baby...Sophie. She is a hoot. And seemingly looking to engage every human she meets. I don't know if it's simply the difference of a stare with dark eyes, but when this girlie looks at you, she holds you with her eyes and with her expressions. She has VERY expressive eyebrows which we tried to capture a bit here.

Love my girls!
